1885 Sale of Contents

MESSRS SPELMAN beg to invite the attention of the public to the
valuable Effects enumerated in this Catalogue, and which have been collected by the late ROBERT RISING, Esq, during
the past century.
THE LIBRARY contains nearly four thousand volumes, and has been collected with great taste and judgement. Much
care, it will be seen on perusing the catalogue, has been taken to select works of a costly description, many of
the editions being LARGE PAPER COPIES, and in many cases it will be found that notes, etchings, etc. have been
inserted. A fine copy of BLOMFIELD'S NORFOLK, and one of DUGDALE'S MONASTICON ANGLICANUM, should convince the
connoisseur that the Library contains works of something more than the ordinary class of literature to be found in
Libraries of private individuals.
The rare and choice COLLECTION OF AUTOGRAPHS AND FRANKS of Noble and Illustrious Personages, Peers, Commons,
Archbishops, Bishops, Admirals, etc., must be of great interest to collectors, as they were collected with great
care by the late proprietor.
THE COLLECTION OF NORFOLK-SHOT BIRDS is unique in its way, the specimens having been, for the most part, shot on
the Horsey Estate by the late proprietor, his sons and friends. Many most interesting, as well as most rare
specimens, will be found in the Collection, which has long enjoyed the reputation of being one of the finest in the
County.
THE WATER COLOR AND SEPIA DRAWINGS, are a very fine and valuable collection, as they are the ORIGINAL DRAWINGS, BY
J.P. NEALE, from which the plates illustrating his various and well-known works are engraved.
The Portraits (many of them local), Engravings, Oil Paintings, etc., are good, and there is a small collection of
Gold and Silver Coins.
The Furniture, Plate, Plated Articles, etc., (antique and otherwise) is of good style and quality, and deserves the
attention of buyers.
MESSRS SPELMAN beg to inform those gentlemen who are unable to attend the sale, that they will have pleasure in
gratuitously executing commissions for any lot or lots in the
Catalogue
