===================================
The Horsey Hall Estate constitutes one of the choicest
Sporting Properties in the Eastern Counties, the Winter Shooting being
extraordinary through the abundance of Woodcock, Snipe, Teal and Duck
of all kinds, which literally swarm the property in winter time.
In addition to the Shooting there is excellent Fishing
both on Sea and Mere, and
HORSEY MERE is one of the most
charming of the far-famed
NORFOLK BROADS, and the Summer
time Yachting and Boating is one of the features of the United
Kingdom. The Sea Shore has one of
the finest beaches to be found in the Summer time.
The House is not too big, and is comfortable and
well-arranged, while the Gardens and Lawns are beautiful in the
extreme. These are wonderfully sheltered from the North by well-grown
Timber Trees. The Farm Lands are
of very good quality, and the type of tenant on the Estate could not
be bettered. The Estate has been
in the hands of the Trustees for many years, and it has never been
their practice to exact high rents, as will be seen from the Rent
Roll. Horsey Hall is situated
bout 3 miles from Martham Station, 12 miles from Great Yarmouth, which
is 3 hours by Rail from London, and 20 miles from the Cathedral City
of Norwich. Martham Station is in direct communication with the
Midlands, being 4 hours by Rail from Leicester.
the Hall is within 5 minutes walk from the Church,
Mere, and Postal and Telegrah Office, and within 15 minutes of the
Sandhills and Beach. The Horsey
Estate practically comprises the whole of the Parish, and possesses
its own Dyke Drainage system. It lies in a ring fence, and is not too
large, and is easily managed. The
Buildings generally are in excellent order and are of strong
substantial description.
